Ruth Schnell is a media artist and curator. Currently she holds the Chair of the Institute of Fine Arts (since 2009), and is Head of the Digital Art Department at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (since 2010).
As a media artist she has been working with computer-aided tools since the mid-1980s. Her artistic research focuses on examining the perception of images/sound/language. She is considered an expert in dynamic projection in particular. Moreover, she has done pioneering work in programming electronic LED glow sticks for the visualization of the after-image phenomenon.
