Jeffrey Shaw
Jeffrey Shaw has pioneered the use of interactivity and virtuality in his many art installations since the late 60’s. In a prolific career of widely exhibited and critically acclaimed work he has pioneered the creative use of digital media technologies in the fields of virtual and augmented reality, immersive visualization environments, navigable cinematic systems and interactive narrative. His works have been exhibited worldwide at major museums and festivals.
Professor Shaw was co-founder of the Eventstructure Research Group in Amsterdam (1969-1979), and founding director of the ZKM Institute for Visual Media Karlsruhe, Germany (1991-2002). Since 2003 he is founding co-director of the Center of Interactive Cinema Research (iCinema) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. In September 2009 Shaw joined City University in Hong Kong as Chair Professor of Media Art and Dean of the School of Creative Media (SCM).
